Boner Experiencing Growing Pains

Andrew Koenig, who's most famous for his role as Boner on the '80s sitcom Growing Pains, is missing in action. The 41-year-old actor hasn't been heard from in two weeks and is thought to be suffering from major depression. His parents are making a public appeal for anybody who has come in contact with their son to notify the police. Andrew had gone to Canada to visit friends and was supposed to return to his home in California last week, but he never got on the plane. He was last seen on Valentine's Day. On February 16, Andrew's dad Walter, who played Chekov on Star Trek, received a disturbing note from his son. Walter told People, "He sounded despondent. Nobody has seen this [note] but my wife and I." Adding to concerns, one of Andrew's colleagues Lance Miccio says that he offered Andrew a work opportunity a couple of weeks ago, but the actor turned him down saying he was "not going to work anymore." He also dropped of a bag of Miccio's stuff to him right around then, and Miccio hasn't heard from him since. After his stint on Growing Pains, Andrew never achieved a great deal of commercial success as an actor, although he did go on to become an environmentalist and human rights activist. Walter was quick to point out this isn't about a substance abuse problem, saying, "I think it's something that has been a part of his makeup for a long time. There's no single trauma. There's no episode. There's nothing of that nature."
