If you're taking Bret Easton Ellis's criticism of your daughter's work to heart, then you might be Michael Lohan. Screenwriter Ellis ripped Lilo a new one on Twitter Thursday, writing, "Patrick Bateman has just headed over to Lindsay Lohan's hotel to confront her as to why she missed her f**king ADR on 'The Canyons' today..." Ellis is referring to the serial killer in his novel (and subsequent film) American Psycho, and he alleges that Lilo missed a voiceover session for his film The Canyons. That, coupled with her usual erratic behavior, led Michael Lohan to attempt an intervention at her home Friday. But Lohan is no Jeff Van Vonderen. TMZ spoke to Lohan outside his daughter's home, where he claims she is surrounding herself with "a bunch of alcoholics and drug addicts." He also claimed her team was on board with the intervention, although someone who claimed to be Lohan's boyfriend turned him and his entourage away at the door. To add insult to injury, the cops received a trespassing call and came to clear out Lohan and his leeches. Lindsay is predictably angry at her father -what else is new? - and told TMZ she was absolutely not using. She says his latest publicity stunt stemmed from her promise to cut him off completely after he recorded their conversation about her blowout with mom Dina. And of course Dina weighed in on her ex's failed intervention, telling TMZ, "This sole act by my ex was not an intervention nor was this extreme antic sanctioned by any member of Lindsay's family or her professional team of handlers. It's all about her father obsessed with making a name for himself in the news once again. It's sad and I hope he stops masquerading as her father in public and starts acting like one in private." She's probably right about that last part, but late Sunday, TMZ received evidence that emails between Michael, Lindsay's lawyer, Shawn Holley, and her manager, Evan Hainey, sent between Sept. 23 and Oct. 18 (the day before the failed intervention) looked pretty conspiratory. Michael writes that Lindsay is drinking vodka and doing cocaine every day, and begs for them to get on board for the intervention, writing, "I am asking you to PLEASE PLEASE find a way to get her to LA toward the end of the first week of October or the beginning of the second so we can do an intervention and FINALLY end this madness!" On the same day, Hainey replies, "I am hearing the same things." And Holley replies with, "Let's do it." They even allegedly met via conference call with interventionist Earl Hightower. But the plan unraveled when the group decided Michael should go in first, leading to the cop call and putting the kibosh on the intervention. Better luck next time...
