I don't know why any feeling person would want to have a one night stand. When I was a divorced man in my 30s I had a few one night stands, but never intentionally. I learned that most divorced women of a similar age would not go out with me a second time if I didn't try to make love, so I made it a point to try. Some just wanted to feel desired, and I accepted their rejection without pushing, but most said yes.

My philosophy is that it makes no sense to get rid of a good thing. If we made a connection, I would continue ask her to go out whether we made love or not. What no one tells you about is the HPV 16 & 18 virus which can and does give you oral cancers in forms you never thought possible. As a man I want to respond to some comments. It is a myth that a man's sexuality is less connected to his emotions then women's are. Men who do one night stands are doing it for the same reason women do; they are engaging in a futile fantasy because 'real life' has left them emotionally unfulfilled.

The difference between men and women regarding their emotions in this area is the same as every other area of life; the masculine ideal requires some display of callousness or lack of sensitivity. Nothing reinforces this ideal more then the fact that women buy into it as much as men do.
