If he or she is worried about things changing - by making negative statements or otherwise - then try to incorporate him or her into your new rituals and make new traditions. Your partner may miss the way things used to be, so you may feel a sense of guilt. Try a compromise - working out at home instead of the gym, for instance - but remember that you deserve to be happy and healthy. If your partner doesn't share that commitment to his or her body, then don't judge. Change is hard, and if your partner isn't willing to make the commitment, then it doesn't mean he or she never will. Try to be understanding and stay proud to be with your partner. Including your partner in your healthy efforts is healthy for both of you...and your relationship.
