What's Your Sign? Not A Bad Question

It used to be that astrology and the zodiac played a role in people's everyday lives. What now seems like a cheesy pickup line - "what's your sign" - was once considered a valid question to ask. However, if you are single and are involved in the dating scene, when someone asks you what your sign is, you may want to pay a bit more attention.

When it comes to astrology, most people go no further than to take a quick glance at their horoscope in the newspaper - some, of course, need to look at the dates for the zodiac signs each day in order to find the horoscope that is theirs. Those who take the time to read their horoscope often dismiss what they read and consider that anything that does go according of what was written to be mere coincidence.

Some people, however, take the time to understand the difference between water signs and fire signs and make it a point to understand that, in many cases, those with one zodiac sign are most compatible with those from another specific sign than others. Some people believe that, when it comes to romance and dating, finding a compatible partner takes finding compatible star signs or, at the very least, getting a sense of what the other party is looking for in a date or a sense of his or her personality.

For example, those who are looking into dating an Aries may find that romantic walks on the beach are not the best plan of attack; many Aries are far more active and are looking for activities that will keep them engaged. On the other hand, if you are dating someone who is a Scorpio, he or she is less likely to stay engaged if you attend some sporting events, but may love spending time thinking through and solving a mystery at a dinner theater or going out for an evening that involves dressing in costume or participation on other levels.

Of course, just because a person's zodiac sign can be an indicator of his or her personality, you're going to want to be sure that you are talking with the individual. And, just because you are looking at a person's horoscope based on their zodiac sign in comparison with your own does not mean that on any given day you should not get together. Both zodiac signs and horoscopes are only a predictor - neither dictates a person's interests and personalities.

Still, if you are single and you are approached by someone who wonders what your sign is, you may not want to take a second to chat with him or her rather than just making a speedy dismissal. You just might find that someone on the dating scene who wants to know your zodiac sign is looking for a sense of whom you are and of what you may be interested in; that just might prove to be a sign that he or she is quality dating material and someone whom you could have a great time with.
