Get the Runway Look

Most of the looks you see during Fashion Week, regardless of where or what season, are so avant-garde that they're difficult to adapt to and work into your regular wardrobe or makeup regimen. Definitely not everyday looks, right? Perhaps, but with a little creativity, there are some takeaways you can use to incorporate the latest trends. This spring and summer, brights are back. The colors on the runway were bold and beautiful. Try a pop of orange in your wardrobe - it's one of the hottest colors of the season and was seen in bags, dresses and shoes in many runway shows. Chartreuse, another hot hue, may be a little tougher to try, but that lovely cool green was featured in a lot of shows. If you're not adventurous enough to try those colors, then stick with neutrals - khaki, gray and black are big for clothing, and nude nails are hip this season. Fashions are showing a little less skin, despite warmer weather coming. Boxy dolman-sleeved shirts are in style, and skirts are getting longer hemlines after a long period of up-to-here dresses seen everywhere.

Wide legs and pajama styles are great, breezy choices for pants. As for makeup, during Fashion Week, many makeup artists have to get several models "done" in very little time. Wouldn't it be great if you could steal their timesaving secrets? Try this one when you're going for a smoky eye: Use your eyeliner as a cream eye shadow. Scribble a generous amount onto the back of your hand and tap onto your eyelid with your fingers. And try adding a shimmery eye shadow to lips over a creamy lipstick. The powder adds shine while locking color in place. As for hair, those sought-after beachy waves took the place of stick-straight hair. You can add them in a pinch by slicking some gel through hair, then braiding it on either side of the head into two large braids (or more, depending on how tight you want the waves). Heat up a flat iron and squeeze each section of the braid in the iron. Spray with hairspray, then undo the braids and shake out the waves.
