It's goodbye yellow brick road to fans who expected to see a memorable concert by the great Elton John this Memorial Day weekend. The famed singer's candle in the wind was extinguished this week when he was sidelined by a serious respiratory infection. According to TMZ, the 65-year-old "Daniel" singer is still standing -- but he won't be performing in the four concerts that were scheduled for the upcoming weekend. Elton John was forced to sacrifice a chunk of his tour by checking into Cedars-Sinai Hospital Wednesday morning. He subsequently had a bunch of tests. Based on the results, he was told not to sing for a week and that he needed to be on "complete rest and antibiotic treatment to prevent damage." John tells TMZ that he still feels the love despite not being able to perform. He says, "It feels strange not to be able to perform these 'Million Dollar Piano' concerts at the Colosseum ... I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts. All I can say to the fans is 'sorry I can't be with you.'" TMZ is reporting he has since been released from the hospital.
