As it enters season 13 of its life span, American Idol is once again looking for new blood. At this point, only regular Ryan Seacrest is a sure bet for next season. The New York Post reports that he recently signed a 2-year contract worth a reported $30 million. However, judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler may not hang around another season. Lopez recently told ex-judge Ellen DeGeneres on her show, "I don't know if I can go for a third year," she said. "I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down." Tyler is "up in the air" according to E! sources, and Jackson isn't part of the "new" Idol. The source said, "he's part of the old "Idol.' They want to keep the soul of the show but have a new look, and, for that reason, he may well not be part of the new line up." However, he may be replaced with a familiar face. E! Online reported that Adam Lambert, season 8 runner up, could replace Jackson. "He personifies the show and will be a popular choice right from the start," insiders say. Lambert spoke to UK press this week and told them, "If - and I say "if' with a capital I-F - they were to approach me, and if they were to say, you know, "We want you to be a judge on the show,' I would love that!"
Meanwhile, over on the X Factor set, new judges Britney Spears and Demi Lovato are settling in, but Simon Cowell still needs to replace host Steve Jones and wants to go back to the two-host format - one male, one female. A few names E! Online reports have been thrown out are Khloe Kardashian Odom, Kelly Osbourne, Erin Andrews and Mario Lopez. "They're doing the auditions without a host so it's no big deal they don't have hosts right now," a source said. "Simon really wants to take his time. The two-person thing didn't work out the first time and he wants to make sure it works this time."
