And then there was one. After many rumors and innuendo, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have announced that they definitely won't be sitting at the judges' table for Season 14 of American Idol. First, Tyler decided to announce it was time for him to dream on Thursday, then Lopez followed suit Friday, citing her need to get back on the floor. Tyler cited his desire to get back to Aerosmith as his reason for leaving, telling TMZ, "I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I'm back - but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I've got two fists in the air and I'm kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass - the ultimate in auditory takeover." Aerosmith will release a new album Nov. 6. As for J. Lo, she said, "I honestly feel like the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do." There's lots of buzz that original judge Randy Jackson won't return as well, but that hasn't been confirmed. "Steven and Jennifer are truly two of the most talented and consummate professionals I've worked with," Jackson told Gossip Cop in a statement. "I was friends with them before we hopped on this crazy journey together and I have no doubt our friendships will continue long after. I will love them for life." Die-hard fans need not worry that they'll replace Lopez and Tyler with just anyone. Us Magazine reports that Mariah Carey is all but a done deal, and TMZ is saying Aretha Franklin would love the gig. Then maybe the show would get some respect...
