Melissa Etheridge is fired up after her former partner allegedly burned one of their twins with a smoke. Although it was an accident, Etheridge has no intention of letting it happen again. The folk singer is dragging ex Tammy Lynn Michaels' butt into court over the incident in an effort to ensure the kids are out of harm's way. However, that isn't her only gripe -- she also wants more time with their two children. According to TMZ, Etheridge wants the judge to demand that neither she nor Michaels is allowed to smoke around the kids. And that's not the only bone of contention between the acrimonious exes. Etheridge describes her former partner as "angry and vindictive," adding that Michaels refuses to split custody with her. Etheridge is fighting to get more time with the children. However, Etheridge cites a bitter email where Michaels tells her, "You have to support so many households because YOU BROKE SO MANY HOUSEHOLDS, silly. If you had decided to have one ounce of integrity/honesty as a person or partner, you would NOT be in this predicament. Think about it." Michaels maintains that although Etheridge may take her show on the road, she won't be taking their offspring. In another email, Michaels told Etheridge, "They aren't leaving my care while you are on the road -- a completely inappropriate place for 3-year-olds -- not to mention you can't track them, have no child care, and they were bit by dogs in the house last time you had them." Of course, the bitter battle between Etheridge and Michaels is nothing new. The former couple have fought about everything from custody to spousal support since suddenly splitting almost two years ago. It looks like time doesn't heal all wounds after all.
