It's a hard knocks life for Kourtney and Kim Kardashian. Although the reality stars had every intention of filming the upcoming season of the reality show Kourtney & Kim Take Miami in sizzling South Beach, there was hardly a welcome wagon for the sexy siblings. In fact, residents of luxurious Sunset Islands, DiLidi Islands and North Bay Road refused to sign off on a petition giving the Kardashians permission to film their show in the neighborhoods. The Belle Isle Blog maintains that when the Kardashians were shopping for upscale rentals, they needed to get at least 90 percent of the neighbors residing within 500 feet of their potential digs to agree. Unfortunately for K-squared, it was no dice. Residents refused to allow the gals, the film crews and the paparazzi to take over their tranquil neighborhoods. And now, the girls are supposedly slumming it… well, sort of. They've had to head north for the winter, as in North Miami Beach, which is almost 14 miles from South Beach. According to Miami Beach's Office of Film and Print, the Kardashians "found a gated community in North Miami Beach." But all that glitters is not gold. While they may have landed a 51,000 square-foot property for filming, insiders maintain the home isn't in the safest area. The insider tells Radaronline.com, "The area is known for its hourly hotels, strip clubs and high crime rate. It’s a far cry from their usual posh digs, with just a 7-Eleven and an abandoned old bank close by." A 7-Eleven AND an abandoned bank?!? As if… Sometimes it doesn't pay to be a Kardashian.
